Provider keys
Choose your own OpenAI and fal keys, verify or remove them, and recover when a provider cannot run.
Provider keys connect generation to your provider account. This is also called bring your own key, or BYOK. Your own keys spend no Puni credits; the provider bills its model calls.
Open in Puni to open these settings.
#Choose the keys you need
| Task | Provider |
|---|---|
| Make a sculpt from a picture | fal |
| Make the picture for a prompt | OpenAI |
| Turn that prompt picture into a sculpt | fal |
| Split a sculpt into named parts | fal |
A prompt-to-sculpt run uses both providers. Where Puni has its own keys configured, a missing step can use credits instead. The sculpt form shows the cost before submission.
#Add a key
- Open Settings → Providers and choose Add key for the provider.
- Paste the key and choose Save key.
- Wait for Verifying… to finish. A saved key shows its last four characters.
Keep the full key private. A stored and verified key confirms setup; a later model call can still fail because of provider billing, model access or a service error.
#Remove a key
Choose Remove on its provider row. Later generation can use Puni's configured keys for credits, or ask you to add a key when that step is unavailable. Removing a key does not delete assets already generated.
#When setup fails
A rejected key stays beside the form as an error. Check that the key belongs to the named provider and has the required access. For provider billing or model-access errors, check that provider account before submitting again.
If Puni says key storage is unavailable, saving a key cannot complete on that deployment. Keep the error and try again after configuration is restored.
Read Security and privacy for what leaves Puni, or Import to make a sculpt.
